Voted Flagstaff’s “BEST FESTIVAL” for the last 6 years, Pickin’ in the Pines is one weekend that you don’t want to miss!
Celebrating its 16th year this Sept. 16-18, 2022, this festival is much more than just a bluegrass and acoustic music festival. The weekend consists of three full days of great live music, jamming, educational workshops, a band contest, community square dance, kids activities, and more! Plus, four nights of camping under the stars at Ft. Tuthill County Park in Flagstaff, AZ.
In addition to the star-studded lineup on the main stage of Pepsi Amphitheater, considered the most beautiful venue in the tall pines of Flagstaff, the festival features workshops and band showcases in various instrument techniques and band development, including guitar, banjo, fiddle, ukulele, and harmony singing. These workshops take place in various places around the festival at Ft. Tuthill County Park, are free to the public and open to all ages. Visit the workshop stage for the band contest or walk over to one of the two ramadas for jamming workshops happening throughout the weekend.
The lineup for the three-day event features several Grammy and IBMA award-winning performers, plus national, regional and local bands including: Dan Tyminski Band, Jerry Douglas Band, Infamous Stringdusters, Travelin’ McCourys, The Grateful Ball, Lil Smokies, Brothers Comatose, Special Consensus, Appalachian Road Show, Trischka, Molsky & Daves, Mile Twelve, Foghorn Stringband, AJ Lee & Blue Summit, Liam Purcell & Cane Mill Road, Cadillac Mountain, Ace Slim, and more!
3-Day tickets and single day tickets are on sale now with advance pricing through September 15, 2022. All tickets can be purchased online at pickininthepines.org. Children 14 and under are free with accompanying ticket holder. Visit pickininthepines.org/tickets for more ticket information.
The Pickin’ in the Pines legendary community square dance is back! After missing last year because of COVID-19 precautions, the festival is excited to host it’s community dance once again on Friday night, Sept. 16, 2022. This year, the dance will be held outside under the Workshop Stage Tent right next to the barn at Ft. Tuthill County Park. Dust off your dancing shoes and join in for everyone’s favorite Friday night festival tradition with live music by Foghorn Stringband. This dance is free for all levels, includes instruction and is fun for the entire family. You won’t want to miss this hoedown hootenanny of a good time!
Pickin’ in the Pines is now accepting band entries for its regionally renowned band contest. Recent winners include Ace Slim from Flagstaff, Crying uncle from California, Cadillac Mountain from Tucson and Sugar and the Mint from Prescott, who recently also won the Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Competition in 2017.
