In this intro course, you will learn to use a manual film camera and properly expose black and white film.
This two-part, hands-on workshop covers the fundamentals of shooting, developing, and printing black-and-white film. Whether you're new to film photography or looking to refine your process, you'll learn essential skills—from understanding exposure and composition to developing negatives and making your own inkjet prints.
What You’ll Learn:How to use a manual film camera (shutter speed, aperture, film speed)
Exposure & composition techniques for dynamic images
The film development process—mixing chemicals, loading reels, and handling negatives
How to digitize film for online use or printing
Editing in Lightroom for print-quality images
Inkjet printing basics, including color matching & proofing
Camera Access:Ideally, students will have their own manual cameras to shoot with. If you don't have a manual camera, please let us know during registration.
Note: Digital photographers are welcome and will learn how to shoot in manual mode, as well as the editing & printing process.
