Flagstaff is a partner in the Historic Arizona Route 66 Geocaching Project, offering visitors a new way to explore the Mother Road while traveling across the state.
With nearly 100 caches along Arizona’s portion of the route, travelers are able to explore secrets from the past with a GPS unit or geocaching app. There are multiple caches from this project to be found in Flagstaff, each one highlighting the classic route and buildings surrounding the cache location. Each cache includes a log book and historic information about where the cache is hidden.
From classic stops and downtown haunts, take your time to locate Flagstaff’s five caches highlighting Route 66. But don’t stop there. Flagstaff is a cachers delight with a hidden treasures to find from the top of the San Francisco Peaks to the outer stretches of Route 66. Make sure you log your finds and enjoy!
